BASKETBALL GUIDELINES
As the title so clearly suggests, the following is a not a list of mandatory rules, but a list of highly recommended guidelines which should be followed for the sake of the integrity of our organization.
However, it will become obvious that some things on this list absolutely must be done in order to have a successful season.
Goals
- To build Christ-like character
- To learn and improve basketball skills
- To build teamwork skills
- To learn the importance of sportsmanship
- To enjoy playing basketball
Team Member Qualifications
- Currently 51% or more home schooled by parent
- Not graduated from high school.
Team Member Responsibilities
- Player must attend practices to play in game.
- Player must wear appropriate clothing and athletic shoes to participate.
- Player may be asked to cut fingernails, and no jewelry or barrettes may be worn.
- Long hair must be secured
- Player should inform coach or assistant of any problems or injuries they are experiencing
- Player should pay attention to the coach's instructions and carry them out
- Player should give his or her best effort in practice and games
- Player will show respect toward coach, other players and referees
Coach Responsibilities
- Coach will hold regularly scheduled practices
- Coach or assistant will communicate all information in a timely manner
- Coach or volunteer will pray with the team at practices and games
- Coach should make an effort to play all eligible players in each game
- Coaches will show respect toward players, coaches, referees and all other persons involved in practices and games
- Opposite sex coach must have assistant coach of same sex as players
Parent Responsibilities
- Parent will get their players to practices and games on time.
- Parent should have their children with them and under their direct supervision at all times
- Parents will show respect toward players, coaches, referees and all other persons involved in practices and games
- Parents should discuss any problems with the coach as soon as an appropriate time is possible
- If assistance is needed to resolve a conflict, contact NGR Grizzlies board
- Parents must help throughout the season. This includes setting up before the first game of the day/night and tearing down after the last game
